 April 26, 2022

Whether you have just joined the Apple ecosystem or upgraded to the latest iPhone 13, setting up your new phone can be an exciting experience. Here’s everything you need to know about quickly setting up your iPhone 13.

But first, understand the options you have when it comes to setting up your new phone.

  • Set up from scratch and use it as new: You can set up every setting from scratch if you want nothing to do with your old phone. It is also the ideal option if you’ve never used a smartphone before.
  • Restore the settings and data from your old iPhone: If you were using an iPhone before upgrading to iPhone 13, you can move contacts to a new iPhone and get all the data via the Internet with iCloud. You can also transfer data via Finder or iTunes.
  • Import from Android: If you switch to iOS from Android, you need to transfer data by downloading apps like Move to iOS from the Google Play Store. Other apps allow you to transfer data to your new iPhone from your old Android, such as Mobile-Trans Phone Transfer.

Now that you are clear on your setting up options, let’s move on to the different steps you need to take to start using your brand new iPhone 13.

  • Things to do when you switch on your new iPhone

When you turn on your iPhone for the first time, the phone will say ‘Hello’ in different languages. It doesn’t matter whether you are setting up from scratch, importing from Android, or restoring from iPhone, this message is inevitable.

You have to swipe up to get started and choose your language. Also, select your region or country. At this point, you can tap on Quick Start to transfer data from your old phone automatically and complete the setup process.

  • Setting up your iPhone 13 from scratch

Whether this is your first iPhone and you don’t want to carry over your Android data or your latest iPhone, and you want to start afresh, the option is to set up your iPhone 13 as new.

It would be best to tap Set up as New iPhone > enter or create an Apple ID and passcode > go through Apple’s terms, and conditions and tap Agree to confirm > set up iCloud Keychain and Apple Pay. You need to set up Siri and say, ‘Hey Siri.’ Then, move on to sending Diagnostic Information to Apple by tapping if apps are crashing, or you can tap Don’t Send. It would be best to switch on Display Zoom for larger texts and icons. Then, tap Get Started.
